Tilly the turtle carries a beautiful mandala wherever she goes. Every section of her shell holds a different tiny pattern. Take your time coloring it, because Tilly never likes to rush. When her shell is complete, she will happily continue her stroll.
Tilly is taking a slow stroll with a very special shell on her back. Instead of plain scales, her shell is divided into lots of little mandala sections, each with its own neat pattern. Some spaces are small, so this picture is a lovely chance to slow down and enjoy each line. Will Tilly have a bright rainbow shell, ocean colors, or a mix of both?
Try forest green for Tillyβs head, legs, and tail, then choose lighter green or yellow-green for parts of her shell. Make each shell section stand out by switching between turquoise, sunny yellow, orange, and purple. Brown can give a few shapes an earthy look. For an extra peaceful scene, add pale blue around Tilly and tiny dots of green grass near her feet.
Turtles carry their shells with them all the time. A turtleβs shell is part of its body, so it cannot climb out of it like a backpack! The hard top part is called a carapace. Many turtles can tuck their heads and legs inside their shells when they need protection. Turtles may seem slow on land, but some kinds swim very well in water.
