Pipโ€™s First Big Peek

Pip is peeking through a cracked egg at the enormous prehistoric world outside. Everything must look new and exciting to this tiny baby dinosaur! The broken shell makes a fun pattern to color, and Pipโ€™s curious eyes are ready for a friendly shade too. Choose colors that make Pip look bold, shy, spotted, striped, or anything you imagine. This is the beginning of one very big adventure.

Eggshell Colors and Baby Spots

Color Pipโ€™s eggshell white with pale blue or light brown speckles. The cracks can stay white, or you can outline them with a darker color. Give Pip a soft green body and a yellow belly, or create purple stripes and blue spots instead. A warm sandy ground and green plants will make the baby dinosaur easy to see. Try a bright morning sky to show that a new day has begun.

Dinosaur Egg Facts

Some dinosaurs laid eggs, just as many reptiles and birds do today. Fossil eggs and nests help scientists learn about dinosaur families. Eggshells were hard enough to protect the baby inside, but the hatchling could break through when it was ready. Not every dinosaur egg looked the same: they could be different sizes, shapes, and textures. Baby dinosaurs are called hatchlings after they come out of their eggs.
